Day 1
Madurai Airport

It takes 6 h to reach Madurai from Bangalore (434 km) and 7.30 h from Chennai (464 km) on the road. On reaching Madurai visit Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple (Meenakshi Amman Temple) dedicated for Goddess Parvathi and her consort Lord Shiva. Stay at a hotel in Madurai.

Day 2

In Madurai visit Thirumalai Nayak Palace, built in Dravidian-Rajput style, by the King Thirumalai Nayak in the 17 century. Then visit Thirupparamkunram Temple, a beautiful architecture carved out of rock. It is considered to be the place where Lord Murugan married Indra’s daughter Deivayanai. Alagar Koyil (story connected with the frog saint) and Gandhi Museum are the other destinations covered this day.

Day 3
Madurai – Rameshwaram (175 KMS – 04 Hours drive)

Rameshwaram is famous for the Ramanathaswamy Temple where Rama worshipped Lord Shiva to wash away the Brahmahatyadosha of killing Ravana. Agnitheertham is the place where people take a bath to shed the sins and start a new life. Ram Jharoka Temple is built where Rama looked for Sita. Dhanushkodi and Adam’s Bridge are the other two spots covered this day. Stay in a hotel in Rameshwaram for the night.

Day 4
Rameshwaram – Kanyakumari (250 KMS – 06 Hours drive)

Check out from the hotel in Rameshwaram and travel 310 km to reach Kanyakumari. Check into a hotel for the day, and then set out for Kanyakumari sightseeing. Suchindram Temple is located in a place where Indra worshipped Lord Shiva to get rid of Gauthama Rishi’s curse and was purified. Devi Kanyakumari Temple has a legend involving Goddess Parashakthi killing a demon called Banasura. Next spots are Triveni Sangam, Vivekananda Rock, and The Gandhi Memorial. Enjoy the sunset on your last day at Kanyakumari, and stay for the night at a hotel.
